Review of Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) by Grimstomper — 12 May 2019
Nothing special about this movie. It's easy to get lost in the fact that a live action Pokemon movie was made, but it doesn't hide the fact that the movie is just as mediocre as every other video game movie adaptation out there.
One of the glaring flaws (and the worst flaw) about the movie is that the dialogue is terrible; it tries way too hard to be funny and if they did it less frequently I would've been able to get through the movie in less pain.
If you're a video game fan then this movie will satisfy you enough to get through the cringy dialogue. If not, I would pass on this one.
