Review of Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) by Southernhammer — 11 May 2019

Please ignore the reviews saying this is a 10/10 movie because it definitely isn't. The world itself is fantastic to see. The whole Pokemon and people living side by side aspect is incredible and I spent every scene trying to drink it all in and had a great time.

However, the plot itself and the general story telling is very poor and it's such a shame that they rush through a lot of immersive world scenes just to have the next generic run of the mill detective scene. Very poor story telling really let this movie down and it's a huge shame because the world they had built deserved better. It is still worth a watch but just know that the story itself will not hook you and you'll see a lot of the same tired cliches done poorly.
