Review of Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys (2004) by Steven P — 21 Aug 2012
A definite improvement over the previous Pokà (C)mon film in the Advanced generation, Pokà (C)mon Destiny Deoxys is a decent movie for fans of the series. I say that as a longtime fan myself. While there are some elements that drag it down; such as the character of Tori, Munchlax being pushed to no end, and the fact that this was the first film in the series to not have a short accompanying it; therefore Kunihiko Yuyama may not have had much to do with a full 98 minutes, the action scenes are incredibly well-animated.
I like the sort of retro-futuristic design of Larousse City, taking influence from the chrome-gloss sheen of the 1950s and 1960s and the technology-reliant aesthetic of the 1980s. It's not the best film of the Advanced generation, but it's certainly much better than Jirachi Wishmaker.
