Review of Point Blank (1967) by Stephen C — 02 Jan 2008
Forget mel Gibsons Remake Payback .
This is the film that Cemented LeeMarvin as An actor.
Here he is Icily tough as Walker a Man left for dead by His Partner and Ex Wife who comes back and smashes and Kills his way to the top of The Organisation in order to get the money he is owed.
Sounds simple right ?
Well Boorman turns the genre on its head with adizzing use of sound and Visuals, most notable when we see and hear Marvin walking along a corridor .
A flop in 1967 the film is now quite rightly Regarded as A masterpiece and films such a The Limey have paid tribute to it.
It also lead to Marvin and Boorman becoming life long friends even though they only made one more film together the Excellent Hell In The Pacific.
