Review of Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World (1998) by Lori S — 24 Sep 2007
This movie was a disappointment considering how good the 1st one was. Even though historically Pocahontas did marry John Rolfe she should have ended up with John Smith since some things were already inaccurate.
I don't see why Disney wanted to get that fact straight in the sequel when in the 1st movie Pocahontas would have technically been too young to even fall in love with John Smith in the first place.
If they were going to tell the story inaccurately at first then they should have kept it all that way. Also, if you look closely John Smith looks different in this movie compared to the 1st one. It's as if Disney wanted John Rolfe to look better than John Smith.
Disney should have kept Pocahontas with John Smith since their love would have made more sense considering everything they went through together during the 1st movie.
