Review of Pleasantville (1998) by Marcus G — 21 Aug 2010
I love the idea, the black and white background was neat. The movie is different, thought provoking and clever at the same time. Its a different cinematic experience. The lead cast have done a remarkable job; Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon really shine and showed their true talent, no wonder they become huge star after this (per se). Joan Allen, William H Macy and Jeff Daniels was really funny, at the beginning they were kind of creepy but they turn out to be lovable characters. Many people seems to misunderstood the 'colored' scenes here, its different for everyone. For me I find it refreshing, the colored people symbolize the other race other than 'American', or so have I thought.
Don't miss it!
8/10.
