Review of Play Misty for Me (1971) by Zack B — 21 Aug 2010
A man's worst nightmare. Clint Eastwood plays a DJ who makes a mistake by giving a fan of his radio show the time of day. Turns out this fan is a psycho, who convinces herself that she's his girlfriend, stalks him and really gets under his skin.
I thought this was a pretty good psychological thriller, at times very Hitchcockian (Obviously inspired by "Psycho"). I would say the only thing the film suffers from is from some really drawn out "70's movie moments".
..like most of the scenes between Eastwood and Donna Mills. But overall, I was impressed with Clint's directorial debut.
