Review of Play It Again, Sam (1972) by Jason M — 12 Apr 2008
This is one of my favourite allen films. although short, it picks up brilliantly on the psychological trauma suffered by the average single man. usually I find allen painful as an actor, but I couldn't help but relate to his romantic buffoonery as he attempts to recreate the world of the screen in his own life.
the constant referencing to casablanca is excellent (even if casablanca itself is aweful) and the mirror ending brings the film to a perfect culmination.
