Review of Play It Again, Sam (1972) by Joe N — 28 Apr 2008
Laugh out loud hilarious. It's kind of like a real life cartoon. Allen's script is just bulging with little things that make you smile, you just can't help yourself. The direction is also impeccable, much like the acting.
Allen and Keaton have great chemistry. Also, his friendship with Dick(Tony Roberts) is very natural. This movie is sheer genius. Plain and simple. Look past Woody Allen's very hard to like character.
Yeah, he's the weirdo that you made fun of in high school, but that's what makes the movie. Yeah, that weirdo would never be best friends with the good looking, successful business man and his wife would never, never fall for him but it's not real life.
That's entertainment!
