Review of Play It Again, Sam (1972) by Rick Q — 21 Apr 2013
Woody Allen's stage play makes a successful transition to film. While director Herbert Ross doesn't give the material the subversive edge of Allen's directorial efforts, he still does great work, and the movie homage shots are all highly appealing.
The rom-com elements don't match the depth of Annie Hall or Manhattan, but the laughs and ingenuity are nonetheless aplenty. A treat and a half.
