Review of Platoon (1986) by Samuel G — 10 May 2010
Platoon is considered as one of the best war movies and a classic. I beg to differ. No doubt this movie is as realistic as it can get and plus it features two great performances, an excellent score, and one very iconic film moment.
But this film fails to cover the various aspects of the war just like other great war films did. Neither did Full Metal Jacket cover a lot of aspects but that was not part of its ambition. Plus, the combat scenes of the film were only average.
An over rated film but still something we should see.
