Superb film, supreme effort and by far one of the greatest war films made in the 20th century. Stellar casting brings Oliver Stone's directorial debut out to shine as Charlie Sheen transforms from green faced recruit to hardline veteran while his "fathers" Willem Defoe and Tom Berenger fight "for.
.. possession of (his) soul". McGinley as O'Neill is another perfect casting. Well deserving of all of it's Oscars, this film should stand the test of time and still stand out long after people forget about the war in Vietnam.
