Review of Platoon (1986) by Zac L — 06 Aug 2010
This is one of the most powerful, emotional, thought provoking films I have ever seen. Oliver Stone's direction puts you into the Vietnam War, making you feel as if your on the battlefield. You feel as if your right there, witnessing the terror going on around you. The action is realistic, and fast moving, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
What I think stands out most about this film is it doesn't tell you how to feel about wars. It show you the true face of war, and let's you decide what's right and what's wrong.
The acting is another thing that stood out. Everyone is cast well, all giving performances that suit there characters, especially Willem Dafoe, who I thought stole the show, though Charlie Sheen was great too.
Overall, this is a fantastic film, one that will leave you completely stunned.
