Review of Platoon (1986) by Muhammed A — 18 Dec 2011
Platoon - A war movie where the war is between god's men.
Platoon is a movie which will raise a lot of questions in your mind , a stunning and perplexing movie about the famous Vietnam war where the American Soldiers actually lost to the guerilla styled fighting of the Vietnamese. The movie shows why America lost the war, it explains all the bloody prejudices lying between the Americans themselves. When the Americans are supposed to fight Vietnamese, they were fighting among themselves with their head high prejudice. This movie is an anthology of the various events that took place in Vietnam through the eyes of it's director Oliver stone. The movie is supported by a great script and a top notch cast. This film is a clear tribute towards the American soldiers who fought in Vietnam, no matter what this movie is a must watch for everyone for it's beautiful narrative and brilliant direction. The movie's greatness is in the genuine script where the director really makes us into a stage of dilemma while watching this movie. The movie will surely be an atrocious experience for everyone as this is one of the most riveting war movies ever made. The Acting is classy, all of the cast does great job Especially Willem Dafoe who plates Sgt Elias who is a good human being and a good soldier . He does a great job by bringing in the zeal of a true soldier or rather by doing an inspirational role. Some scenes are really gripping and will increase your pulse rate for a moment. The montage of the movie is frightening, riveting and very intense. This is a very powerful movie where you will be truly awed at some sequences and the way that those scenes have been shot. Oliver stone is a great visionary director who has de facto brought in a true unbiassed war movie. This is a great movie about the war of the minds within the war of the bodies, a motion picture which is highly accurate in it's high budget execution. This is certainly one of the movies you have to watch at least once before you die.
My rating : A+.
