Review of Platoon (1986) by Calib M — 22 Feb 2016
This movie shows perfectly how lifeless, uninteresting, shallow and pointless war is, because of how lifeless, uninteresting, shallow and pointless Oliver Stone's movie ''Platoon'' is. (Not, in a good way).
Also ''Platoon'' uses sets that are obviously fake, gory f/x that look incredibly cheap, and explosions that look clearly staged, on top of that it utilises special movie making tropes that made an earlier and better vietnam war-movie ''Apocalypse Now'' stand out, but makes this movie look like a cheap knock-off and gimmicky.
''Platoon'' is not a bad movie and surely has its good parts, but overall not as great as everyone claims it to be, with the absurd amount of Oscars it won, and undeserved Nominations for Dafoe and Berenger. ''Platoon'' is by a long shot not the best picture of 1986.
