Review of Platoon (1986) by Ross M — 01 Nov 2010
An intense and iconic masterpiece. A gritty and bitter memorial to the Vietnam war, with first class performances from a great ensemble cast. Dafoe and Berenger are magnificent and Charlie Sheen really should have done more serious roles after this and Wall Street; if there ever needed to be proof that he can act a straight role, look no further than the village scene. On the subject, this scene is probably one of the most emotive parts of a film I have ever seen. "Dance motherfucker! Dance!".
A true masterpiece.
