Review of Platoon (1986) by Arshad T — 15 May 2011
When Tropic Thunder's best scenes are actually outright spoofs of Platoon's most enduring, you sort of get a picture of how powerful this film really is. Taylor, Barnes and Elias are all unforgettable characters forged from Oliver Stone's experiences in 'Nam, and that may just be the key to this film's greatness.
It takes you there, and you almost like you're standing and fighting with Bravo Company, feeling their frustration, suffering their hurt. War movies don't get much better than this.
