Review of Platoon (1986) by Ricardo B — 21 Sep 2011
I thought it was brutal, but underwhelming. Coming from a vietnam veteran I was expecting something a bit more intimate and intelligent, but I found the film underwritten, not very well characterized and low in intelligent dialog.
The combat scenes were flawless though, and certain segments are unforgettable. In the end, It's a very young film makers movie, too brawny not brainy enough.
