Definitely watch Apocalypse Now before thinking about this one. It'll leave you with many thoughts about Vietnam and the soldiers who served for their country, but oddly enough it's not as terrifying as Coppola's vision of the war.
Yes, there are moral issues here and there, some killings that shouldn't have happened, but it just didn't quite match Apocalypse Now's haunting theme, or Full Metal Jacket's grandiose action scenes.
