Review of Platoon (1986) by Shane D — 04 Jul 2013
Films set in the Vietnam war that attempt and come close to depicting the horrors that occurred on both sides are hard films to re-watch. Whereas WW2 films carry with them a noble and honorable tone, 'Nam films bite and are often ugly as a virtue.
This is beginning to age, Charlie Sheen and Berenger are in full 80s mode here, but overall its a visually expansive and horrific effort. Will put it back on the shelf for another 15 years.
