Review of Platoon (1986) by Lez M — 17 Mar 2013
Around the time of this movie, there seemed a spate of other Vietnam movies, and tv series, being flung at us, this was the best of the time, later followed Oliver Stones Born on 4th July, which I found less memorable, ( and Heaven and Earth, which I have yet to see).
Platoon is one of the movies that would sit in your war collection, along side Apocalypse Now, and Full Metal Jacket, Hamburger Hill, Boys from Company C, Deer Hunter, We were Soldiers, Bat 21, Deer Hunter, and possibly even Jacobs Ladder...
Platoon is as fresh to me now, as it was then.
Oliver Stone has been hit and miss over his career, but this was/ is definitely a hit.
