Review of Platoon (1986) by Matthew Z — 19 Oct 2013
Overall, I consider Platoon to be a great film. It successfully combined a deep, integrated storyline with a competent cast that portrayed rich, complex characters. All of this helped me to overlook its clear anti-Vietnam political message.
I do, however, defer to Mr. Stone in his views, at least to some extent, given the fact that he witnessed first-hand what it was like to fight in that war, whereas I did not.
