Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Ian B — 19 Nov 2011
Hands down this is the best B movie ever made! The dialogue is cheesy, the gore is over-the-top, the performances are campy and the action never stops. I forgot how absolutely disgusting this movie was when I saw it in the theater.
I didn't notice too much new stuff in this "uncut" version, but unlike Death Proof, some new footage would actually help Planet Terror. Rose McGowan still can't act her way out of a paper bag, but lucky for her this movie is all about cheesy performances.
Michael Biehn, Jeff Fahey, Bruce Willis and Tom Savini all in the same movie....common, how kick ass is that! Infact the entire cast is amazing. Rodriguez keeps the action moving, the blood and guts (and puss) flowing, his Carpenter-esque score rocks and the fun never stops.
Glad to see we got the Machete trailer, but I'm still pissed the other three are missing. Oh well. Planet Terror is definitely one of those movies you can watch over and over again, and yes, it's a lot more enjoyable than Death Proof (although I still like DP more than most did).
I'm sure most people will be disgusted by this movie...and that's a good thing.
