Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Texbabe L — 25 Jun 2012
Planet Terror is a film by Robert Rodriquez and released alongside Quentin Taratino's "Death Proof" for the Grindhouse double feature. I highly enjoyed this film and it's always great to see Rodriguez whenever he makes an actual good film.
What makes me mad at him is that I know he is a good director, but he makes so many crappy movies (Spy Kids 4, Sharkboy and Lavagirl) that it's very hard to see, but whenever he makes a great film (Machete, Sin City) I always regain my respect for him.
This movie is a bloody and disgusting great time, and is one of the best zombie films I have seen. They make this film look like a true grindhouse movie and give us the experience of a film in the 70's.
The actors just seemed to be having a fun time; they are funny and do nothing particularly special other than just being zombie killing badasses or sinister bad guys. I will admit its slow starting out because we don't know what we are in for, but soon it really picks up and gets really fun.
I loved all the ideas and creativity in the film and it's very rare we see a film with this much entertainment in one package. Planet Terror was a highly entertaining and bloody thrill ride, and I highly recommend to all zombie fans.
