Review of Planet Hulk (2010) by Adam M — 09 Apr 2010
Take the Hulk out of his usual Earthly setting and put him on a violent alien world where all inhabitants are of Hulk(ish) strength. Sell him into slavery and make him all Russel Crowe in Galdaiator = awesome.
One of the better, if not the best, animated efforts from Marvel in their direct to DVD range. The Planet Hulk comic storyline is absolutely amazing, and whilst this strips out and condenses it into about 70-80 minutes of film it's still damned good. This isn't the Hulk that many will be used to though, no less savage, but certainly not a brainless monster. To paraphrase the Mini marvesl comedy strip: 'the madder Hulk get, the more eloquent Hulk get'! My one complaint is that his confidence and arrogance is downplayed from the comic storyline which is a shame as it made for a more interesting Hulk.
