Review of Planet Hulk (2010) by Peter K — 08 Sep 2010
This is the 7th film from Marvel Animation, and I can tell that they are trying to take some pointers from their DC counterparts. Overall, the DC Universe animated films are immensely better than any of the Marvel Animation movies.
I will say that the best the Marvel ones is 'Hulk Vs.' which has him battling Wolverine in one story and Thor in the other. In 'Planet Hulk', the heroes of Earth are tired of having to deal with the rampage and destruction that is The Hulk.
With no other solution in sight, they decide to banish him to a distant planet where he can no longer hurt anyone. The problem is, the Hulk changes plans and he lands on a habitable planet where slaves are battled against each other for entertainment.
Pretty much, it's 'Gladiator' meets 'The Incredible Hulk'. I think the action is pretty good and I liked the overall story. One negative I would point out in this movie is that Bruce Banner stays as the Hulk the entire length of the film.
I do like all of the Marvel and DC animated movies as a whole and I think if you haven't seen any of the Marvel then you should start with this one.
