Review of Planet Hulk (2010) by Corey N — 11 Feb 2011
Planet Hulk is based off of a storyline from the Incredible Hulk comic. I read it and it is one of my all time favorite Hulk stories. Now the film is darn close to the original story. Of course taking from one format to another some part of the story will be changed and sacrifice to make it work.
This film does that. You don't need the full background before this story to make it work. Plus some parts of the comic can not be filled for this film to be made. It would be just too long of a film plus may confuse others who have not read the comics.
The biggest change was having Beta Ray Bill fight Hulk instead of the Silver Surfer from the comics story. Other than that it was close to the original. The animation is excellent and the story well done.
Enough action in this for fans of Hulk and others who are not. The film is violent so may not be for young kids. But teenagers and up should enjoy. Marvel fans will pick out characters such as Adam Warlock, Gamora, Starlord and the Grandmaster in the backgrounds during the gladiator fights.
This is a must see film for any Marvel fan, Hulk fan or for those looking for a great animated film to watch.
