Review of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) by Johnny S — 14 Jun 2014
This amiable farce pits an uptight New York advertising executive and the family man Neal Page (Steve Martin) against a boisterously oafish, but good-natured, shower curtain ring salesman Del Griffith (John Candy).
Both are in a desperate race to get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving, but with their airplane flights indefinitely delayed, they opt to join forces and find alternate transportation - any kind of transportation.
And so begins a series of preposterous disasters, one right after another. Through it all, the mismatched pair find a common bond at the finish line.
