A man desperate to get home for Thanksgiving is stuck with an obnoxious and annoying shower rings salesman as a companion. Steve Martin and John Candy turn their contrasting styles of comedy into a real asset in accentuating the strange bedfellow and mismatch feel of the character duo while John Hughes brings a warm and sentimental feel to the film, which adds to a surprising and unusual maturity.
