Easily John Hughes best, and first non teenager friendly, film, "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" follows an uptight man, who just wants to get home for Thanksgiving, who happens to bump into a bumbling fool who is just wants to make a sale.
The film lovable, having the typical John Hughes heartfelt message at it's core. Steve Martin and John Candy are absolutely hilarious, bouncing off each other like tennis ball. The film moves smoothly, delivering equal doses of jokes and story, never sacrificing one for the other.
It is a great holiday film, and one that will live on long after the holidays are over.
