Review of Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957) by Alex G — 01 Sep 2009
I thought this was funny. I can't criticise Ed Wood. The look of the film is good, even if the sets are clearly made of medium density fibreboard. Vampira is as striking a character as I have seen, Criswell is great, the fact that the "aliens" are just humans in costumes who speak fantastic English is hilarious and the message of us messing up our lives is actually quite poignant.
The guy got the film made so all credit to him. Off the top of my head, I cite "The Fountain", Aronofsky's offensively poor film from a few years ago as being worse than this.
