Review of Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957) by Senor C — 04 Feb 2012
Plan 9 From Outer Space is sorta like watching a train wreck caused by a dead horse on the tracks. It's a twisted mess of bloody derailed carnage. Worst movie ever made? In many aspects it is but there is bad entertainment to be found if you can endure.
If you actually know some history of the awful cinema world of Ed Wood this movie means more. When I originally saw this I knew nothing about Ed Wood. I had just let my VCR run one night on CITY TVs Late Great Movies & picked it up.
When I watched it it was like being hit in the head w/ a pick ax. Just so wrong on so many levels. It was hard to believe that something could be so incompetent really making the brain ache & the jaw drop.
I have never really bought into the cult of this film but I do find Wood interesting in the vast scheme of film history. It may be his worst but there are others of his that are much more enjoyable in a cinema sewage sorta way.
