Review of Pitch Perfect (2012) by Kim D — 21 Mar 2014
Okay, okay...finally getting to this one! I actually am going to be unbiased about this, promise! This has got to be my favourite cast of any film, like you can feel the intensity of their their true bond during the pool Just A Dream/Just the Way You Are mashup scene radiating from the screen.
Gives me the tingles. C'mon though, some of the funniest/ridiculous 'who'd say that' one liners from Rebel Wilson and Hana Mae Lee are just a thrill, and ya can't forget the unforgiving intimidating perma-glare of Kimmy-Jin, Beca's ridiculously strange Korean roommate.
However, nu-uh to the Beca/Jesse relationship, they look like brother and sister and if you listen to the commentary there's an underlying gay-tone with Chloe...I mean duh! Do you really have to spell out that chemistry?! I'm going to go super bold and say this might be one of the most quoted films since A League of Their Own and the first The Hangover, coz let's face it, it's aca-awesome! The aca-isms will take over your regular vocabulary like wildfire, thanks Anna Camp (she's in True Blood too btw).
But really a very enjoyable singing comedy. See it, please!
