Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) by Patrick K — 02 Feb 2013
This is actually a good film even though it left me disappointed. With Will and Elizabeth gone from the pcture Captain Jack sets off on a new adventure which brings new characters which makes it feel like The Curse of the Black Pearl all over again but not quite as good.
Blackbeard was an awesome villain played awesomely by Ian McShane but was countered by the annoying Angellica (Penelope Cruz). The scenes with the mermaids were brilliantly done aswell as the sequence at the fountain of youth.
Good film I did enjoy it but you could see the change of director from a pirate enthusiast in Gore Verbinski to a man who recently did a musical Rob Marshall had an evident impact on the final product.
