Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) by Quique S — 08 Feb 2015
A two hour film that feels like it never end. Bloated with scenes and plot that is completely irrelevant to the story and just wastes time. Awful CGI that is only made worse when comparing it to the previous films.
Absolutely baffling creative decisions that feel entirely out of place in the setting and with the established characters. Many different bad guys, the most important of which is introduced in the first scene and they are only seen again in the closing ten minutes.
The character development of Jack is a carbon copy of what happened in one and three, he has the chance to become immortal but he instead decides to save someone else. Except here you don't care at all about these people and would be far more happy watching them die and Sparrow sail into the sunset as an immortal pirate.
Would have at least made a fun ending. A completely pointless, aimless adventure that entirely misses the point of what made these films fun.
