Review of Piranha 3DD (2012) by Luc L — 02 Sep 2012
It is a watchable sequel to Alexandre Aja's original but the style and humour is different in this one. But this one feels lazier. Director Gulager (The Feast Series) does have some style of dark humour and gore but almost nothing in memorable.
The third act of the movie turns into a bad parody of the 2010 version. It is like the filmmakers were out of ideas. Only Hasselhoff comes off being surprisingly funny making fun of himself. Lloyd is fun in the movie's best and only simple scene.
Rhames is a hoot in this one. The movie could have used more of Busey instead of a cameo role and always funny Koechner is wasted in a supporting role. The gross out scene involved Bowden and her boyfriend in the picture in the most enjoyable gory part of the feature.
If there is a Piranha Triple D's. Hopefully that one would be better.
