Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Jacob F — 03 Jun 2011
Pinocchio is my favorite Disney film from their first golden age and one of my favorite Disney films in general. This is because it is superbly drawn with an ensemble of great characters and a very well-meaning and exciting story.
The moral of the story is that we must do what is right and resist temptation. At the same time, we are taken into a tale of adventure with an abundance of riveting and frightening moments. I find the character of Pinocchio to be a fully fleshed out and developed character.
This is because he allows himself to be manipulated by several characters but eventually learns his lesson and this leads to his heroic final act. Of course, who could forget his lovable conscience Jiminy Cricket.
Overall, Pinocchio is a beautifully drawn gem that still shines today.
