Review of Pink Floyd: The Wall (1982) by Cameron K — 19 Apr 2010
Roger Waters and Alan Parker dismissed this as the world's most expensive student film upon its completion. While it's undoubtedly quite full of itself, and gets a little tonally redundant, it's still a riveting and starkly visual experience that fans of either Pink Floyd or surrealism should get a kick out of.
Alan Parker's direction is formalistic and memorable, at times reminding of Terry Gilliam. The moments of sheer perfection come in Gerald Scarfe's bizarre and disturbing visuals, which may be one of the high points of eighties animation.
