Review of Pink Flamingos (1972) by Fernando G — 01 Jan 2010
I've always been intrigued by John Waters' movies; never seen one before but I keep hearing they are pretty bizzare.
Well, last night I picked up Pink Flamingos and watched it because people say it's his breakout movie.
I mean... I can't even begin to comprehend how a movie like this even saw the light of day back in 1972. It is utterly... disturbing. It got an X rating back then and now they re-rated it to NC-17, but I think it should stay at X. It's not totally pr0n, and it's not totaly violent; it is... strange and disgusting. No wonder its tagline is: "An exercise in bad taste".
Thank God my parents were good people and never allowed me to watch this when I was a kid; I could have become forever mentally-damaged.
