Review of Pineapple Express (2008) by Gareth L — 05 Oct 2017
This slacker and stoner film is a rarity in this modern age, it's a shame. The film is very funny and utilising all the key cast to perfection, the true revelation is Franco's drug dealer. My only real complaint with the film is the central villains are lacking true menace or character, they really needed to make a clear distinction like all the characters around them.
I wish they would make more films with this fun and darker tone, this film works and plays better to a crowd. I seen this at the movies and didn't think that much of it at the time but I rediscovered it on video.
Great film with strong chemistry and humour, Franco and Rogen are an impressive team. Any film that can spend 15 minutes in the woods with 2 actors riffing off each other is going to sit well with me.
