Review of Pillow Talk (1959) by Simon T — 16 Apr 2017
Entirely predictable late-50s fluff, charmingly performed (and occasionally mugged) by Rock Hudson and Doris Day. The pleasures lie in the incidentals: the split-screen, the outrageous hats, the shameless rear projection and studio exteriors.
This is a snapshot of America before the Cold War, Vietnam and student protest. One black face in 100 minutes!
