Review of Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman (2005) by Michael S — 01 Oct 2007
An outstanding performance by Timothy Spall as Albert Pierrepoint, Britain's last executioner, revealing the tensions of maintaining the chasm of presenting a professional, competent front and living a simple, moral life.
A good insightful movie about a troubled and complicated character facing a difficult and contentious 'duty'. Despite the subject matter, it isn't too graphic, however a stark warning if you have a vivid imagination and a sensitive disposition, don't do it!
