Review of Pieces of April (2003) by Chris T — 09 Dec 2007
I just re-watched this over Thanksgiving and was pleasantly reminded of the greatness of this film. Peter Hedges, who wrote What's Eating Gilbert Grape, once again gives us fully realized, flawed, human characters.
Katie Holmes gives her a great performance, but it's Patricia Clarkson's portrayal of Joy, that will help make this movie stand the test of time. Her cold-hearted exterior is merely a device to hide the hurt and loss she feels for April.
