Review of Pieces of April (2003) by Lauren H — 10 Nov 2008

I didn't think I was going to like it but it turned out to be a brilliant depiction of a modern american family. The side plot with the boyfriend Bobby scootering about the city was annoying after a bit, and the plotline with all of the oven mishaps felt weak but you couldn't help but feel a little pang in your heart when the Chinese family pulled through and everything worked out.

I definitely had tears at the end. Movies are supposed to move you with some kind of emotion and this one did. Patricia Clarkson (April's mom) was brilliant.
