Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Jurgen H — 21 Nov 2007
Good but not great. tense but not intense. the high melodramatic score sometimes seems appropriately tongue-in-cheek when juxtaposed with the high victorian mannerisms, but then sometimes it's just ridiculous.
and yet, without the bells and whistles, weir manages to create a truly errie film. the camera work is wonderful, though.
