Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Max F — 23 Feb 2009
PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK is one of the most absorbing movies I've ever seen. I have tonsillitis at the moment and I plum forgot about it for the entire running time of the film. I left my gelatin bouncing in my spoon. The unanswered questions of the girlies disappearances (and more disturbing still: reappearances) only surface the psychosexual tension that stirs in the nest of feminine longing.
Peter Weir is a madman.
