Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Rose K — 13 Feb 2007
This film is beautiful and terrifying. Peter Weir uses repetition and flashbacks to build up suspense- making treacherous Hanging Rock a character of the movie. The setting of a girls' boarding school in 1900 makes the impact of the girls' and teacher's disappearance absolutely devestating.
In such a regimented world- how is it possible for three people to just disappear without a trace?
