Review of Pickup on South Street (1953) by Robin R — 08 Mar 2008
One of the best noirs; the opening sequence alone is a study in Freudian foreshadowing and Widmark is the essence of creepy sexiness. Thelma Ritter defines existential weariness, and for trivia fun, Jean Peters ended up being Howard Hughes' moll.
