Review of Pickpocket (1959) by Tolga B — 09 Nov 2007
A unique style of framing, editing and cinamatography that has inspired many a quality fimmaker. The attention to close up detail engages you to such a degree that you feel a compelling involvement with the narrative. Bresson also loves to explore themes of paranoia, social exclusion and isoltation. Not surprisingly, Paul Schrader points to Bresson as his biggest inspiration in writing the screenplay for Taxi Driver.
Pure genius.
