Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Rose A — 10 Sep 2011
Very powerful film. Two very sensitive subjects, however I think nowadays there isn't anywhere near as much prejudice towards gay people and you have to have been hiding in a cave to have not heard about Aids.
Tom Hanks gives probably his most un-Tom-Hanks-like performance, at times you wouldn't recognise him, so I think it's fair to say it's one of his best and the same could be said for Denzel Washington, I know he's a lot younger in this but I'm convinced it wasn't him! I'm not sure I can say I enjoyed this but it was really heart breaking at times.
